Raclette, Werewolves and ExCo meeting 2020

During the weekend of 22nd and 23rd of November we had the first of our bi-annual general assemblies. Students from each of the Belgian committees (Ghent, Leuven and Louvain-La-Neuve) came together in IAAS Leuven's boshut for a meeting to discuss things on a national level. This includes a general review of the semester, attended international events, merch and past and upcoming local events.

For our Ghent committee the motivational weekend started with a bunch of us gathering at the train station to head to Heverlee! Once we arrived in Leuven we met up with the members of Louvain-La-Neuve and walked a short route to the boshut. Leuven prepared the evening feast, aka raclette, and we all squished around the table using whatever we could find as extra chairs.

After dinner we played two intense and somewhat chaotic games of Weerwolven van Wakkerdam which was a great way for old and new members to get to know each other. This was helpful to then divide everyone over the Leuven dorms and head there for the night.

The next morning, we were greeted with koffiekoeken and hot coffee and tea which gave a wonderful boost to start the meeting. The morning was spent discussing the past couple months and included a video message recorded by our lovely NExCo Kamiar who is currently on a semester abroad in Spain.

After a welcome lunch of croques, the afternoon was devoted to Exco meeting 2020! Next semester IAAS Belgium will be hosting a nine-day long gathering for the IAAS exchange coordinators from all over the world to come together and discuss what they have been up to and their vision for the future. It's a big responsibility and requires a lot of planning but we are very excited and cannot wait to see everyone!

This concluded the lovely weekend and after cleaning up and saying goodbye to everyone (we’ll miss them!) we headed back home. See you soon boshut, let’s convince FBW to build one for IAAS Ghent too.
